This is a condensing unit. There is no 'filter' The debris and leaves that may fall into the center of the unit, can only be cleaned out by removing the top of the unit and pulling them out. If the coils get dirty, those can be cleaned sometimes using a water hose, most of the time, by using a chemical cleaner that will push the dirt out of the coil. You do not want to spray at the coil and pack the dirt into it.
