A multi-zone mini-split system will split the load between indoor systems and prioritize which one needs the capacity. Once that zone has reached temperature the system will prioritize the other zone higher.
This allows the system to have an indoor unit total capacity up to 150% of the outdoor unit capacity on some systems.
